Prize Winners of „Berliner Kompositionspreis“ 2026 (Duo Edition)

The third edition of the Berliner Kompositionspreis 2026, endowed by the Stiftung am Grunewald and presented as the “Duo Edition”, once again attracted strong international interest, with submissions from composers across Europe, Asia, North America and South America.

The jury has decided to award the Main Prize of €5,000 to Ukrainian composer Mykhailo Kozyriatskyi alias Michael Kraft, for his Sonata for Violin and Piano.

Two Encouragement Prizes of €1,000 each are awarded to Adi Shapiro for Crystalline Metamorphosis for violin and piano and Philipp Manuel Gutmann for Blütenreigen for violin and viola.

The prize-winning works will be presented at the Prize Winners’ Concert on 28 October 2026 at 8:00 PM at SONARLOFT – Kühlhaus Berlin. The concert will feature the world premiere of Mykhailo Kozyriatskyi’s award-winning Sonata for Violin and Piano.

The programme will also include Dvořák’s Dumky Trio, performed by SONARLOFT founders Philipp Scheucher, Wojciech Garbowski and Konstantin Manaev.

The Berliner Kompositionspreis is artistically directed by Konstantin Manaev, Wojciech Garbowski and Philipp Scheucher.

The prize money is made possible through the generous support of the Stiftung am Grunewald.
