With immense pride and excitement, we announce the conclusion of the submission period for the Berliner Kompositionspreis 2026 – marking the second edition of what has already become a vibrant and truly global platform for contemporary chamber music.
This year’s response has exceeded even our most ambitious expectations. The number of applications has grown significantly, bringing together an even larger and more diverse community of composers from across the world. With submissions arriving from a remarkable range of countries and cultural backgrounds, the Berliner Kompositionspreis continues to establish itself as a powerful international forum for new artistic voices and bold musical ideas.
Each submitted score represents not only extraordinary craftsmanship, but also courage, imagination, and the enduring belief in the future of contemporary music. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every composer who entrusted us with their work and became part of this expanding artistic family.
Honouring our Patron: Stiftung am Grunewald
This edition would not have been possible without the exceptional generosity and visionary support of the Stiftung am Grunewald. Their commitment to fostering artistic excellence and empowering the next generation of composers stands at the very heart of this initiative.
We wish to express our deepest and most sincere appreciation to the foundation. Their trust, encouragement, and dedication to the arts have elevated the Berliner Kompositionspreis to a new level and created meaningful opportunities for composers worldwide. Their support is not only financial, but profoundly cultural – enabling artistic creation, dialogue, and the continued evolution of contemporary music.
Distinguished Jury and Guest Composer Konstantia Gourzi
We are especially honoured to welcome the internationally acclaimed composer and conductor Konstantia Gourzi as Guest Composer and member of the jury for the 2026 edition. Her artistic voice, depth of experience, and global perspective bring exceptional insight to the evaluation process.
Together with our distinguished jury panel, she is now carefully reviewing all submitted works in a thorough and anonymous selection process. This phase represents the heart of the prize – a moment of attentive listening, reflection, and discovery.
The official prize winners will be announced on March 15, 2026.
